For twenty three years, people have been visiting Corner Bakery Café for their delicious comfort food and healthy menu items.  Continuing the tradition of offering a home-style meal, they have decided to add to their menu Buttermilk Pancakes.  What makes them so special is that they are made with real buttermilk and made-to-order; not frozen and never re-heated.  Their new light and fluffy pancakes dressed with real syrup and summer ready berries make it the perfect breakfast.  Another great selection for breakfast is the Chilled Berry Almond Swiss Oatmeal.  It is has rolled oats, green apples, bananas, currants and dried cranberries as well as low fat yogurt and skim milk.  They give you a Raisin Pecan Sweet Crisp to go with your oatmeal.

Lunch has gone International with their NEW Spicy Asian Pork Hot Toasted Sandwich.  The sandwich is made with shredded roasted pork and a savory Asian barbecue sauce.  It is topped with fresh coleslaw, crisp English cucumbers,  pickled jalapenos and cilantro.  The sandwich is served hot on a toasted French freshly baked roll.  Imagine it as French / Vietnamese fusion cuisine that you are sure to love.  It is one of the best sandwiches in town because it has a sweet and spicy taste.

The kids menu is a great value for a family because they offer great food under $5.00, which includes a beverage.  The menu offers breakfast, lunch and dinner choices served all day.  For breakfast, the choices include The Kids Scrambler (scrambled eggs with bacon or fresh fruit and white toast) and the NEW buttermilk pancakes (Two original or chocolate chip pancakes served with Applewood smoked bacon).  For lunch or dinner, they offer a Kid’s Combo (Any half kids sandwich paired with a small soup, served with choice of bakery chips or baby carrots.)  Kids’ sandwiches include Turkey, Ham, Grilled Cheese, Peanut Butter and Jelly (Served on choice of white or harvest bread with pickles and bakery chips or baby carrots.)  Included in the menu for kids is a Homemade Mac and Cheese, Pasta with Meatball or Noodles and sauce (choice of marinara or cream sauce).  This menu is recognized by the Kids Live Well National Restaurant Association, an organization committed to helping families find better choices when dining out.
Corner Bakery offers a large catering menu which can help you have a stress free summer.  I think it is like having your own private chef on call.  Take a look at their online menu to view a complete list of food items they offer.  Here their link: Corner Bakery Café Online Menu.  One of the best valued items on their catering menu is their Bundt Bite Tray.  It is only $20.00 for 20 pieces.  Make your day special with a freshly baked Bundt bite.  This is a great way to host any occassion.

State Testing and a letter of encouragement

State Testing CCSS SBAC is starting next week for our area.  This semester, my son's fourth grade teacher has asked that I write him a letter of encouragement.  She gave us a few weeks notice. I have, in the past few days, written a few handwritten notes of encouragement. Then, I would wake up the next day realizing that it was not loving enough and second guessing myself. This task has been a little hard for me.  Then, the final email reminder came from the teacher. It read as follow: "This is just a friendly reminder to please send a letter of encouragement to your student to be opened this coming Monday, May 1. Students will be given the letters prior to taking their first test."  Oh my goodness, I have to get it done!!! So, I put on my big girl pants and re-wrote the letter for the 5th time. This time, I made it classroom friendly and left out lots of the I love you's and all the mushy stuff I had written before. The letter went something like this:  ...

How to make a California Mission Model.

Learn how to make a California Mission Model at home or in the classroom. We made this project as part of the California Public School Fourth grade requirement in a group setting. Continue to read on to get the supply list and instructions for a successful mission model. On an ordinary day, I was reminded how amazing kids really are when there are no limits. Just as equally amazing are the teachers who guide them and teach them everyday.  I am very thankful for the opportunity that I was given as a parent volunteer.  The day was like a beautiful dance where parents, teachers and students came together for a common goal. The goal was to make models of California Missions from a simple picture and lots of cardboard.  I can honestly say the goal was reached and everyone deserved an "A".

Field Trip to Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament - Buena Park

My family and I were invited to Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament for an afternoon of entertainment. I want to tell you about our journey into the Middle Ages via Medieval Times. It began at the will-call window with the kind clerk suggesting we visit their museum for a small fee. We said yes immediately to exploring their Middle Ages Museum called “The Museum of Torture”. It sounded interesting and educational to see Medieval exhibits. As we headed to the museum, a women dressed in traditional Middle Ages attire adorned all of us with blue crowns. We were assigned Don Alberto Del Mau as our Knight for the tournament. This meant we would have to cheer and support our Knight into battle. Don Alberto Del Mau is a young squire who is renowned as a champion of the defenseless.   Armed with this knowledge, we set out to visit the Museum of Torture.     Inside the museum, we realized that living in the Middle ages was a terrible time for all who crossed Royalty. ...
