Sessions Sandwiches West Coast Deli in California

Newport Beach, California has a yummy new west coast deli called "Sessions Sandwiches". This summer, we were very excited to visited this incredible restaurant and try some of the their deli favorites.  The Banhmi Sandwich, Meddock Melee Sandwich, Hot Dog Beast, Cucumber Salad, Greatfella sandwich and Pasta Salad filled our dinner plates. Disclaimer: This is a sponsored post. All thoughts and opinions are all my own. Read on to find out more: Sessions is located at 2823 Newport Blvd., Newport Beach, CA 92663 and opens its doors to guests every day from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
On a regular day in the middle of the week, my family and I had a picnic dinner at the beach. The day was made special as the entire family enjoyed some tasty food from the Sessions menu. The food was fresh and made to order. We called ahead so it was super fast with no waiting. We grabbed our picnic dinner and headed to the beach to play and enjoy the family.

We shared all of the items so everyone had a chance to try a little bit of everything. My favorite was the Meddock Melee Sandwich with no Guacamole and the Cucumber Salad.

The Bahn Mi sandwich is a pork and beef meatball sandwich with Sriracha aloli, pickled onions, carrots and jalapenos, fresh cilantro all loaded into a soft, fresh French roll.  The boys and my husband couldn't get enough of the Beast Hot Dog loaded with pastrami, pickled mustard seed, razor onions and cherry peppers  Add on sides like the cucumber salad with fresh cucumbers, onions, corn, cherry tomatoes all tossed in a light sweet vinaigrette....DELICIOUS!!!

For more information on all of their incredible eats click on the Sessons Menu.
As we headed to the beach to play in the sand, we took our picnic bag full of delicious deli favorites.  We sat near the pier to say good-by to the day. The kids played while my husband and I watched the sun go down.
This year, we will have an endless summer every time we visit Sessions Sandwich deli. You can make your summer endless too with a picnic dinner and a visit to the beach.  The Beach ball is optional. Have fun this fall with the ones you love and don't forget to field trip.

Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, California has two baby penguins.

Baby Penguins are now playing at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, California. We received the chance to go on a family field trip to visit them and all of the other sea creatures. Disclaimer: This is a sponsored post. All thoughts and opinions are all my own. Scroll down to read about our latest adventure.
Did you know that penguins don't just live in the cold? They also live on the beaches of Argentina with weather that is similar to California. If you live in California, you know that it is always sunny and warm. It rarely rains and it is never below 65 degrees. Perfect weather for the baby Magellanic Penguins that just arrived at the Aquarium of the Pacific. We recently got a chance to explore their new home and see them up close along with a few other fun exhibits.
Once we welcomed the new babies, we headed over to the shark tank, lobster exhibit and the other sea creature exhibits.  With each exhibit, we wondered how these wonderful animals survive and thrive at the aquarium.  The kids were amazed that there were so many sea creatures that come in all shapes and sizes.  The whole time, we learned about their food sources and saw first hand how they interact within the fish tanks with other types of fish, sea urchins and mammals.
We got our hands dirty while touching and learning about the Horseshoe Crab and Sea Anemones.  The Horseshoe Crab is one of the oldest living species and it's blue blood is coveted for it's health benefits.  We got to see both the Horseshoe Crab and it's blue blood.  It was eye opening for all of us. PBS has a short video on why the Horseshoe  unique blood has powerful properties valued by the biomedical industry.

The day proved to be very fun and educational as well as memorable because the kids enjoyed a day of play.  It began with the kids meeting the dentist on the bus

The first career stop we visited was the dentist. The kids had a chance to ask questions and experience a free dental check up along with a fluoride treatment. She had a mobile office on site and we saw first hand what sugar and diet soda can do toward damaging our teeth. She provided  many visual examples of sugar contents in everyday drinks. Many kids passing by were whispering "I am not going to drink that anymore". Our brief visit gave us an understand of the importance of dental health.

We then had the chance to visit with the local police and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary before we met the a business man (Iphone Case Designer). The police officer was a meet an greet and it offered an opportunity to ask questions about his career in law enforcement. The kids said they noticed he was polite and friendly. The interaction was short however the kids were very impressed meeting Officer Ayala. The U.S. Coast Guard taught all of us about water safety and life jacket fitting. They explained the proper way to be safe while wearing a life jacket on a water vessel. The kids felt like they were being allow to play with grown-ups who have professional jobs. The experience continued when we met the Iphone case designer.

Promoideation a local business shared their laser engraved iphone phone cases. The company had on site before and after product samples along with a small presentation that explained the "how to" of making custom iphone cases. The company gave a mini-presentation of their product and the kids were allowed to ask questions. When we left I asked if they knew what being in business for yourself meant? They both replied "it means we are the boss".  It was very cute.
